In his first year as the General Manager of the Houston Astros, he led the team to the 2005 World Series.
Earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Loyola University of Chicago and a Juris Doctor degree from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California.
Prior to his appointment to General Manager of the Houston Astros, he served as the team's Assistant General Manager, Assistant Director of Minor League Operations, and Director of Player Relations.
A founding staff member of the Arizona Fall league, a successful developmental league operated by Major League Baseball that serves as a finishing school for top prospects.
Under his leadership, in 2001, the quality of the Astros' Player Development Operations was honored as Organization of the Year from Baseball America, Baseball Weekly, Topps, and Sportsticker.
